Our goal at Meals Our Kids Love! is to help make your family mealtimes easier, more enjoyable and, hopefully, more delicious.
Whether you’re a busy mum who’s short on time or inspiration for what to cook for dinner tonight, or a parent, grandparent or childminder frustrated by your child’s fussy eating, at Meals Our Kids Love! you’ll find hundreds of recipes, expert tips, how-to videos, product reviews, as well as interviews, articles and food and nutrition news – all designed to help you find something to make for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between.
Founded by mums, Dawn Quest and Rachel Willcox, all our recipes are tested on our own kids as well as friends and family. Our rule is, if a recipe doesn’t get a minimum of 7/10 from the kids, then it doesn’t make it to the website. If you’re interested in becoming one of our recipe testers please do get in touch by emailing Dawn.
Dawn is a journalist, former BBC producer and trained life coach who now runs Meals Our Kids Love full-time. Mum to a 10-year-old daughter and a 14-year old son, over the past 14 years she’s dealt with everything from weaning to toddler food, coping with fussy eating and food fads to how to provide an endless supply of healthy snacks for a teenage boy.
Since launching Meals Our Kids Love! Dawn says she’s gone from being “a mum who hates the daily monotony of finding something to cook for dinner” to someone who loves trying and creating new recipes. She’s also passionate about taking great photos and loves taking photos of all the recipes featured on Meals Our Kids Love.
Currently Dawn is writing a book The 30 Day Veg Challenge a 30-day challenge to get kids eating more vegetables. Find out more information about The 30 Day Veg Challenge here.
Rachel is a freelance business journalist who writes about finance, management and technology issues. An original co-founder of Meals Our Kids Love, she now contributes articles, recipes and other content in between working and being mum to three primary-school age children. Editorial assistants James Herring and Millie Gibson are joining us over the summer.
Both James and Millie have just finished their A Levels and will be working with MOKL on social media, filming and editorial over the coming two months before jetting off on their chosen academic and career paths.
James is a talented writer with an interest in film, television and music. He’s pursuing a career as a writer/director and will be helping us shoot and edit videos over the summer as well as doing a spot of news and feature writing. James is also something of a cook (we hear his Cinnamon Bread recipe is a big hit at home). Bring some into the office James please!
Millie hopes to follow a career in publishing and will be heading off to University in September to study English. We’re lucky to have Millie helping us with all things social media as well as news, reviews and article writing. She’s also a netball fan, loves reading and has something of the travel bug.

Neill Thomas – Solicitor and Resident Meals Our Kids Love Dad Chef
After leaving school I trained as a chef before becoming involved in the management of a large-scale catering company but eventually did my MBA in employment law and loved it so much I decided to change my career entirely by becoming a solicitor. Roll on 20 years and here I am with my business partner Jonathan Mansfield, owners of Thomas Mansfield Solicitors Limited, a niche firm of solicitors based in the City and specialising in employment law.
When not running my business I take an active interest in all things related to food and enjoy cooking for my ten year old son. He regularly rates my efforts from 0 to 10 but I have only scored ten once, and that was for a home made burger! I cook everything fresh and use mainly organic ingredients but on weekdays his meals are always made within twenty to thirty minutes. I tend to do more experimental cooking at the weekends when I have more time.
Ketta Shimmin – Flossie Pops Cakery
Ketta Shimmin is the owner of Flossie Pops Cakery, a small bespoke cake business located in the beautiful Weald of Kent.
Having always baked cakes for her three young daughters, a close friend asked Ketta to bake her wedding cake, and discovering she had a passion for it, Flossie Pops Cakery was born. But not before Ketta tried her hand at other careers, including a stint as a magician’s assistant, waiting tables, working as an office manager at an e-commerce solutions company (in a bid to become more “grown-up”) and completing a postgraduate marketing qualification before helping her husband Rob set up his own PR consultancy.
Now Ketta bakes cakes and runs cake-making workshops full-time, as well as being mum to daughters Evie, Floss and Clara, wife to Rob and owner of naughty cocker spaniel, Bailey. www.flossiepopscakery.co.uk
