In the Friday Dish this week: we love this beautiful bright and cheerful tray from IKEA; Grow Your Own kits for kids make perfect gifts this Easter; and Zipzicles – an ingenious reusable pouch so you can make your own delicious ice pops as the weather warms up
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted this tray in our recent Frozen Banana Smoothie photos. What can I say? I love this tray so much; those brightly-coloured birds cheer up the dullest day. Read the full review here.
Grow Your Own for Kids
We’re big fans of getting the kids involved in growing their own food here at Meals Our Kids Love! Research shows that children eat more fruit and vegetables if they’re actively involved in growing their own, whether it’s tomatoes, peas or lettuce.
So I couldn’t resist picking up these little gems at my local supermarket this week. Waitrose has extended its Woodland Friends range to these grow-your-own-pots. Perfect as Easter gifts, you can choose from miniature strawberries, cherry tomatoes or sunflowers. Read more about Grow Your Own posts here.
Zipzicles – reusable Ice Pop pouches
Okay, so we did have sunshine this week, though it’s hard to believe it looking at the grey skies outside. But while the sun shone, however briefly, I did get a little carried away with thoughts of warmer weather, flip flops and of course frozen lollies.
I’m reluctant to buy supermarket ice pops these days because I’m put off by how many artificial colours and flavours are in them. No great hardship because with so many different types of frozen lolly mould on the market, it’s now easier than ever to make your own frozen pops. I thought these Zipzicles were particularly nifty though as they’re reusable, zip-locc pouches you can use to make your own Ice Pops.
We only review things we truly genuinely love or feel our readers would like to know about here at Meals Our Kids Love! We are never paid for our reviews nor do we receive any kind of incentive. From time to time we may be sent a free sample. If we choose to publish a review of a product we have received a free sample for, we will always let you know by stating this either at the top, bottom or within the post itself.
